Abundance of terminology is one of the characteristics of legal texts, thus research and adequate choice of terms is a crucial component of quality assurance, and in these processes it is important to use correct, suitable terminology, and to use it consistently, i.e. the chosen term in the respective meaning must be used across the whole document, as well as in the collection of interconnected documents. In addition, it is important to remember that, when talking about terminology, instead of translation of terms, usually the equivalence of terms is the prevailing idea, emphasising that the primary task when working with terminology is to provide mutual compatibility of concepts without aiming at achieving lexical equivalence. In order to understand a specific term better and to find the most precise equivalent, examples from other languages must be used at all times.
